# How to read a record — Employers of H-1B workers — fiscal year 2023

> What the record is, what the status means, and what is left out.

## How to read these records

### The record

An employer that wants to hire a foreign professional on an H-1B visa files a petition with USCIS. The agency publishes, for each employer and city, how many new and continuing petitions it approved or denied in a fiscal year. This site gathers the cities of each employer into one record.

### Status

Employer with at least one H-1B decision in fiscal year 2023. Fiscal year 2023 only (October 2022 to September 2023): later years are not on this site yet. Counts are petitions decided, not people employed today. The record ID is made by this site.

### What is not here

Individuals, and any name without a company word (Inc, LLC, Corp, Co…). Owner and contact names, phone numbers
and mailing addresses, which this site never downloads.

**For owners and managers: does
your company have 30 to 200 employees?**

AI labs pay companies to license their internal workflows (SOPs,
documentation, support tickets), anonymized and under contract. You keep ownership and pay nothing.

**Describe your company in 2 minutes →**
Offered by Registres, an independent data gateway. Not affiliated with USCIS.
